Begin april deed Makerting een oproep aan Makers om hun quarantaine creaties te delen. En wat blijkt? Makers zitten zeker niet stil in tijden van thuisisolatie. Ze zijn bezig met hun persoonlijke ontwikkeling, werken aan projecten of maken nieuw werk. Anna Nunes werkt aan een nieuw portret

‘Het portret is nog niet af, maar het gaat de goede kant op. Het is een plezier om aan het nieuwe schilderij te werken en hopelijk brengen mijn werken wat harmony en schoonheid in de wereld tijdens deze gekke tijden. Met de portretten van de mensen die ik heb ontmoet, wil ik bijdragen aan de zichtbaarheid van inheemse gemeenschappen en het respect dat ze verdienen. Maar bovenal hoop ik de wereld te inspireren met hun schoonheid. Voor mij zijn ze op verschillende manieren een voorbeeld voor onze moderne wereld. Ik geloof dat inheemse gemeenschappen specifieke kenmerken hebben die ons kunnen inspireren hoe we diversiteit, verbinding en harmonie binnen onze samenlevingen kunnen waarderen en op een duurzame manier kunnen leven, met elkaar als met onze natuurlijke omgeving. Bas Vellekoop ontwerpt een Bed & Breakfast

Erik van Schaften creëert een collectie sculpturen voor de Biesbosch

‘Mijn idee is dat de Baanhoekweg, gelegen langs een industrie terrein en woonwijk, een introductie wordt naar de Biesbosch. Mijn voorstel bestaat uit een collectie van sculpturen geïnspireerd op ‘de griend-ark’, een woon- en werkschip dat werd gebruikt door arbeiders in de Biesbosch bij de oogst van wilgenhout. Ik zie deze ark als metafoor voor de symbiose tussen arbeid en wonen, dit past perfect bij de hedendaagse situatie van de locatie. Het idee is om lokale materiaalstromen te gebruiken zoals maritiem staal en wilgen voor het ontwerp. Het aantal en de schaal van de objecten staat nog niet vast, binnenkort hoor ik meer…’

Roos Peltenburg legt het verwelkingsproces van een boeket vast

‘Bloemen hebben maar een korte levensduur en daarom kunnen we altijd maar even van hun schoonheid genieten. Zeven weken lang heb ik het verwelkingsproces vastgelegd van een boeket bloemen. Wat als we veel langer van hun schoonheid kunnen genieten? De schoonheid van bloei en verval heb ik zichtbaar gemaakt in dit tweeluik.’

Rui Jun Luong illustreert benarde posities van dieren 

‘Illustraties waar je dieren herhaaldelijk ziet. Mijn project ‘We have feelings too’ gaat over hoe dieren vaak in boerderijen leven. Allemaal bij elkaar en op elkaar, om aan te tonen hoe slecht ze eigenlijk behandeld worden. Deze collage heb ik gemaakt voor een expositie over ‘Animal rights’.’

Anna Nunes is working on a new portrait

‘The portrait is not yet finished, but it is going in the right direction. It is a pleasure to work on the new painting and hopefully my works will bring some harmony and beauty to the world during these crazy times. With the portraits of the people I met, I want to contribute to the visibility of indigenous communities and the respect they deserve. Above all, I hope to inspire the world with their beauty. To me they are an example for our modern world in different ways. I believe that indigenous communities have specific characteristics that can inspire us to value diversity, connection and harmony within our societies and to live in a sustainable way, with each other and with our natural environment. Bas Vellekoop designs a Bed & Breakfast

‘In addition to new products, I am working on a plan for a Bed & Breakfast. It is the first building I design, as part of a 3 building plot; 1) a B&B, 2) a handy shed 3) a house that will be adapted and expanded. It is largely self-built, which I include in the design. The B & B has 2 separate rooms with sleeping lofts for the little guests and becomes self-sufficient in energy and heat consumption. The look will be national with references to the American midcentury cabins in color use and materialization. Erik van Schaften creates a collection of sculptures for the “Biesbosch”

‘My idea is that the Baanhoekweg, located along an industrial site and residential area, will be an introduction to the Biesbosch. My proposal consists of a collection of sculptures inspired by ‘de griend-ark’, a living and working ship that was used by workers in the Biesbosch to harvest willow wood. I see the pilot whale ark as a metaphor for the symbiosis between work and housing, which fits perfectly with the contemporary situation of the location. The idea is to use local material flows such as maritime steel and willows for the design. Roos Peltenburg records the wilting process of a bouquet

‘Flowers have a short life span, which is why we can only enjoy their beauty for a while.
For seven weeks I recorded the wilting process of a bouquet of flowers. What if we can enjoy their beauty for much longer? The beauty of bloom and decay is made visible in this diptych. ‘
