Weven is mijn grote passie. Het weefgetouw, de techniek en de constructie van de draden zijn een eindeloze inspiratiebron voor mij. Ik werk onderzoekend op mijn eigen ambachtelijke weefgetouwen – van draad tot weefsel – dan heb ik maximale invloed op het weefproces. Vanuit hier zoek ik de grenzen op om tot innovatieve ontwerpen te komen met vernieuwende functionaliteiten in textiel.

Dat resulteert in samples, prototypes, kunstobjecten en gebruiksproducten. Mijn 3D geweven tas is een goed voorbeeld van een functioneel product dat direct op het weefgetouw ontstaat. Een weefsel opgebouwd uit meerdere lagen waardoor drie vakken in het weefsel ontstaan.

Graag bundel ik mijn krachten met samenwerkingspartners, die willen innoveren in het gebruik van hun textiel(producten). Deze samenwerkingen kunnen variëren van een onderzoek of experiment tot de realisatie van producten. Voor Secrid heb ik bijvoorbeeld onderzoek gedaan naar industrieel borduren op leer. Het resultaat, de Stitch collectie, wordt inmiddels wereldwijd verkocht.

Mijn kennis en manier van werken deel ik graag als docent en consultant.

Weaving is my great passion. The loom, the technique and the construction of the threads are an endless source of inspiration for me. I work researching on my own craft looms – from thread to fabric – then I have maximum influence on the weaving process. From here I look for the boundaries to come up with innovative designs with innovative functionalities in textiles.

This results in samples, prototypes, art objects and consumer products. My 3D woven bag is a good example of a functional product that is created directly on the loom. A fabric made up of several layers, creating three compartments in the fabric.

I like to join forces with cooperation partners who want to innovate in the use of their textiles (products). These collaborations can vary from research or experiment to the realization of products. For example, I researched industrial embroidery on leather for Secrid. The result, the Stitch collection, is now sold worldwide.
